Lecture Synopsis

The Father of Japan's Internet,Dr.Jun Murai speaks on the future of the internet.

2009 marks the 20th anniversary for our nation to be connected to the internet.The 76th IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) International Conference with the help and support of the WIDE Project (Representative: Dr.Jun Murai,Keio University professor) was decide to be held in Hiroshima coinciding with Computer and Network EXPO' 09 Hiroshima.The IETF International Conference will attract over 1,000 researchers and technology experts from countries all over the world to discuss internet technology and standardization.This year's keynote lecture will be given by Keio University Professor Dr.Jun Murai (one of IETF International Conference's organizers and widely known as the father of Japan's internet).Dr.Murai will speak about the latest internet topic entitled "The Road to the 21st Century Information Society".

Dr.Jun Murai's Bio

  • Ph.D.in Computer Science from Keio University (1987)
  • In 1984,Dr.Murai developed the Japan University UNIX Network "JUNET",which became the foundation of the Japan's internet.
  • In 1988,Dr.Murai established WIDE Project,a Japanese internet business-academic research consortium.He still is active as their representative.
  • Ever since the dawn of Japan's internet,Dr.Murai has been working on creating a better internet technology platform.
